When it comes to creating a new Job Profile, there are various possible approaches, and one effective method is to start by copying an existing Job Profile or candidate profile as a foundation. This approach offers a range of advantages, including saving time and effort, and ensuring consistency, and benefiting from proven success factors.
The first step in creating a Job Profile by copying an existing profile is to identify the appropriate source. This can be an existing Job Profile in your library, or a candidate profile that aligns closely with the desired role. By selecting a suitable source, it is possible to leverage existing knowledge and expertise. To do this, go to the 'Jobs' tab in Discus, and select either 'Copy a Candidate' or 'Copy a Job Profile', and then select the profile you want to use.
Once the source profile is selected, it is essential to review and adjust the job profile settings. These settings include primary factors such as DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance) as well as sub-traits, and you can adjust and fine-tune these values to create the new Job Profile. This step allows customisation to ensure the profile closely reflects the requirements of the role.
Finally, you'll need to define a name and category for the new Job Profile. Once done, the new profile will be added to your library and can be used in Job Matching just like any other Job Profile, and you can make further changes to the profile shape at any time.
Copying an existing Job Profile or candidate profile significantly reduces the time and effort required to create a new profile from scratch. It allows organisations to leverage existing knowledge and expertise, accelerating the profile creation process.
Consistency and Benchmarking: By copying a successful profile, it's possible to help ensure consistency in the expectations and requirements for similar roles. This approach also provides a benchmark for evaluating candidates against established criteria.
Proven Success Factors: Existing profiles often reflect successful individuals who have excelled in similar roles. By copying these profiles, you can incorporate the proven success factors and competencies that have contributed to high performance in the past.
Creating job profiles by copying existing profiles offers a range of advantages, including time savings, consistency, and the incorporation of proven success factors. Remember, though, that while copying an existing profile provides a solid starting point, it is crucial to continuously refine and tailor the profile to meet the unique needs of your organisation.
